Firm Overview

Stehlik Law Office is located in the Historic Business District of Pawnee City, Nebraska, in the Hempstead and Smith Building which was built in 1886. We are proud to provide a broad range of legal services to clients throughout Southeast Nebraska. Although maintaining a general practice, the areas in which we concentrate are Probate and Estate Administration, Wills and Trusts, Estate Planning, Real Estate, Personal Injury, and Corporations.

We pride ourselves on being a family-oriented business. My own family consists of three daughters - Jennifer Stehlik-Ladman, who is the Chief Deputy Seward County Attorney in Seward, Nebraska; Elizabeth Stehlik who is enrolled in the University of Nebraska College of Architecture interior design curriculum; and Valerie Stehlik, who is a Computer Programmer with Interact Incorporated in Lincoln, Nebraska. Our office family includes Katherine Stehlik, Certified Paralegal; Sharon Streit, Legal Secretary; and Jana Engelken, Estate Secretary. The three support staff members have worked at Stehlik Law Office for a cumulative total of more than 35 years.

We are privileged to welcome Martina Fialova from the Czech Republic into our family, May through September, 2006, as a Legal Intern. Martina has studied three years at the Masaryk University of Brno, College of Law, and the past year at University of Nebraska, College of Law. Her language skills include Czech, English, French and German.

I have been practicing law in Pawnee City for thirty-five years. My mission has not changed during my professional career: To provide friendly and caring legal representation with cutting edge drive and determination. What has changed is the depth of my skill and experience. One of the most important lessons I have learned over the past three decades is that negotiating a settlement is often better for our client than taking the matter to trial. Experience affords me the insight to look at every case clearly and objectively, even while acting as our client's vigorous advocate. At Stehlik Law Office, we treat our clients like family. We are hardworking and honest, and our clients benefit from our years of experience. We take pride in handling legal matters promptly and efficiently.

Upon earning my Bachelor of Science Degree with Cum Laude Honors from the College of Business Administration, University of Nebraska, Lincoln, Nebraska in 1968, I attended the University of Nebraska College of Law, receiving my Juris Doctorate Degree in 1971. I served as Pawnee County Attorney, Pawnee City, Nebraska from 1975 to 1987, and have been serving as Pawnee City Attorney since 1987.

Over the years, I have been privileged to participate in the following:

  • Author of article "Nebraska Uniform Custodial Trust Act" published December 1997 in the Nebraska Lawyer
  • Nebraska Continuing Legal Education Seminar Faculty-Real Estate Law, Quiet Title Actions, September 1995
